In honour of Colin, the movie which was on everyone’s lips at Cannes for it’s (now) famously low budget, the good people at Total Film have put together a list of nine other films which have had clever…or at least unusual ways of finding their funding. Quite relevant in the current financial climate too…
This animaton by David O’Reily won the Golden Bear at this years Berlin Film Festival for Best Short Film. The animation is truly unique, and absolutley stunning. All of David’s work has a similar sense of humour and continually expands on his house style. David’s most recent work is a promo for U2’s latest single - I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight…(That’s the song from the new Blackberry ads to you and me).

This film from China Moo-Young is part of a double-bill featuring in this year’s festival. The other, Liar (also directed by Moo-Young) was part of the 2006 Rushes Soho Shorts festival among others. We think it deserves another look!

Run Wrake’s amazing animation was one of the winners from Rushes Soho Shorts 2006. We have screened selections from Rushes for the past two years and will be taking the 2008 reel to Cannes in May 09.
