Announcing the Cannes in a Van 2011 “Van d’Or” Awards

As the Palme d’Or closes, the Van d’Or opens…

Cannes in a Van is proud to announce the inaugural “Van d’Or Awards,” which will take place in London at a date to be confirmed, and will bestow a selection of prizes upon some of the films which screened on La Croisette this year as part of the Cannes in a Van 2011 Official Selection.

The awards given will fall into two categories:

EN COMPETITION

The awards given in this category are the competitive prizes, and five selected nominees will compete for each award. Prizes will be presented for:

Best Director

Best Screenplay

Best Actor

Best Actress

Best Documentary

Best Animation

AND….The coveted and prestigious VAN d’OR AWARD for Best Film.

UN CERTAIN REGARD

This category will bestow a small selection of jury prizes upon the films we screened which were in some way worthy of special merit. The awards aren’t competitive, and will be more light-hearted in tone than the main awards categories.

Nominees will be announced on Friday, the day after the last night of screenings for Cannes in a Van 2011. Details of the time and place of the Van d’Or Awards Ceremony will follow soon after. Watch this space….
